Wig Sizing

Every wig company will provide a different size chart but knowing the basics of finding your numbers is the first step to achieving a comfortable secure cap no matter what brand you choose. After comparing all your measurements if they do not line up under one general size cap... always go with the largest measurement; this will provide the most accurate fit that ensures your comfort. All that you will need is a soft measuring tape, and a mirror.

Circumference

The primary measurement for overall wig size (petite, average, large). It determines the general fit around the entire hairline.

Too small causes headaches and the wig to ride up; too large makes the wig feel loose and slip around.

Start by measuring your circumference:

1. Using a fabric measuring tape, hold the measuring tape at the front hairline

2. Follow your hairline circumference to base of your hairline at nape

3. Continue your around head, backing up to the front starting point

4. Write down this measurement

Ear to ear

(accross the forehead) Measures the width across the forehead from the top of one ear to the other, along the front hairline.

Ensures the front hairline of the wig aligns correctly with your natural hairline and fits the width of your forehead.

(top of head)Measures the distance from the top of one ear, over the very top (crown) of your head, to the top of the other ear.

Ensures the wig cap fits snugly over the crown without gapping or putting pressure on the ears.

Next, find your ear-to-ear measurement:

1. Establish “top of head point” by measuring 7” back from front hairline

2. Hold measuring tape at your hairline at top of your ear

3. Measuring across the top of your head point, continue to hairline at the top of your opposite ear

4. Write down this measurement

Front to Nape

Measures the vertical distance from your front hairline, over the crown, to the nape of your neck. This affects the depth of the wig cap.

Too long causes bulging or the wig sliding off the back; too short causes the front to sit too high on the forehead.

1. Hold measuring tape at your front hairline

2. Follow a straight line down center of head, ending at hairline at the nape

2. Follow a straight line down from the center of your head backwards, ending at the nape hairline.

4. Write down this measurement

Temple to Temple (Around Back)

Measures the distance from one temple around the back of the head to the other temple, at the base of the skull.

Provides a good fit at the sides and back, preventing the wig from shifting horizontally and ensuring proper coverage.

1. Hold measuring tape at your hairline on the furthest point of temples near eyebrow

2. Follow a straight line across centre of head around back of the occipital bone, ending at hairline at the other temple

4. Write down this measurement
